Development

From its humble beginnings at the Laboratory for Threat-Material Detection at the University of New Brunswick, Inversa Systems Ltd's Deep Backscatter Tomography (DBT) technology came to fruition as Inversa assisted with a project undertaken by UNB and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Work on this project proved that the concept behind DBT technology was successful and a technology base was created. Inversa Systems then took over development of the technology.

Inversa Systems Ltd was incorporated in August 2005 as the vehicle to receive this technology originally developed by the LTMD. Further market research was conducted showing prospects for the technology in aerospace, civil, petrochemical and power generation plant inspection. Partnerships were then formed with petrochemical and power generation facilities because of the interest in this technology.

The first DBT scanner was successfully designed, built and tested in 2006-2007. Trials were then performed in 2008. Inversa Systems has also designed and developed the software system needed to control the hardware and the image reconstruction engine, the heart of the technology.

Inversa Systems Ltd continues to work its partners and is now ready to provide solutions to industrial inspection needs.
